Eligibility – CUET (UG) 2026

The eligibility criteria for CUET (UG) 2026 specify the conditions under which candidates are permitted to appear for the examination. Candidates must clearly understand that eligibility to appear in CUET (UG) 2026 and eligibility to secure admission in a university or programme are entirely different. While CUET determines eligibility for appearing in the entrance test, final admission eligibility is governed by the rules of the respective University, Institution, or Organization.

Eligibility to Appear in CUET (UG) 2026

  • βœ” There is no age limit to appear in CUET (UG) 2026; however, candidates must fulfil any age criteria prescribed by the respective University or Institution.
  • βœ” Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination are eligible to apply.
  • βœ” Candidates who are appearing in Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2026 are also eligible to apply.
  • βœ” It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure compliance with university-specific admission requirements, which will be verified during the admission process.

1. Recognized Boards & Exams (India)

  • βœ” Final examination of the 10+2 systemΒ by any Central/State Board:
    • CBSE, New Delhi
    • CISCE, New Delhi
  • βœ” Intermediate / Two-year Pre-University examination by recognized Boards or Universities
  • βœ” Final examination of the two-year course of Joint Services Wing, National Defence Academy
  • βœ” Senior Secondary Examination by NIOS (minimum 5 subjects passed)
  • βœ” Any Indian Board or University exam recognized as equivalent by AIU / UGC / Ministry of Education
  • βœ” Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination
  • βœ” Diploma of 3+ years recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education

2. International / Other Equivalent Exams

  • βœ” General Certificate of Education (GCE) – Advanced (A) Level (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka)
  • βœ” High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University
  • βœ” International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva

3. Additional Conditions & Advisory

  • βœ” Candidates completing Class 12 outside India or from unlisted boards must produce a UGC equivalence certificate.
  • βœ” If Class 12 exam is not a public exam, at least one earlier public exam (Board/Pre-University) must be cleared.

Advisory: Candidates must verify programme-wise eligibility on the official university websites. Non-compliance may lead to cancellation of candidature/admission.
