Admission Process of Private Bangladesh medical colleges (2025–2026 Academic Session)

For Indian MBBS aspirants, institutional integrity, regulatory oversight, and transparency of admissions are decisive factors when selecting a medical college abroad. Bangladesh medical colleges admit students only through regulated, merit-based, and fully centralized admission process conducted by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME). This centralized framework ensures utmost fairness, uniform evaluation standards, and complete transparency for all foreign applicants (including Indian students).

Centralized Online Application through DGME Portal

Indian students seeking MBBS admission in Bangladesh medical colleges have to submit their applications exclusively through the official DGME foreign students admission portal (foreignstudents.dgme.gov.bd). For the 2025–2026 academic session, the online application window opened on 11 November 2025, and the final deadline for submission is 15 January 2026.

  • Application submission through embassies, and high commissions are not allowed.
  • Applications processed through the DGME portal are only considered valid.

Documents Required for Online Application

At the time of online submission, foreign applicants (including Indian applicants) must upload scanned copies of the prescribed documents in the DGME-specified format. These include a recent passport-size photograph, valid passport, Class 10 (O-level equivalent) marksheet and certificate, Class 12 (A-level equivalent) marksheet and certificate, and proof of payment of USD 100 through Telegraphic Transfer (TT) or SWIFT as a non-refundable application and equivalence processing fee.

  • All academic documents must be attested by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, confirming their authenticity for international academic use.
  • After successful online submission, candidates need to download and retain a printed copy of the completed application form for admission-related formalities.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

As per DGME regulations, Indian applicants must have passed Class 10 not earlier than 2022 and Class 12 in either 2024 or 2025, with the Class 12 examination completed within three years of Class 10.

  • A minimum combined GPA of 7.0 (Class 10 and Class 12 combined) is mandatory.
  • Applicants must also secure a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Biology in Class 12.
  • No subject GPA below 3.5 is permissible.

GPA calculation is carried out using the best five subjects in Class 10 and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12.

Merit-Based Selection and College Allocation

After the closure of the application window, DGME verifies all submitted documents and calculates GPA scores strictly in accordance with the national guidelines. A centralized merit list is then prepared, and eligible candidates are officially allocated medical colleges on the basis of merit rank and seat availability.

  • Only DGME-issued college allotment letters are legally valid.
  • Admissions obtained through any direct, unofficial, or parallel channel are strictly forbidden.

Final Admission at allotted medical college

Foreign students (including Indian students) must report in person to the college campus to complete final admission formalities.

  • Formalities include verification of original academic certificates and mark sheets, medical fitness assessment, passport verification, and payment of the prescribed institutional fees.
  • As notified by DGME, final admissions at non-government medical colleges will continue until 19 February 2026.

NEET Requirement for Indian Students

In accordance with the regulations of the National Medical Commission (NMC), India, all Indian students pursuing MBBS abroad must possess a valid NEET qualification.

  • NEET eligibility is mandatory both for MBBS admission in Bangladesh medical colleges and for appearing in FMGE/NExT upon completion of the degree.
  • The NEET result remains valid for three years from the date of declaration.
