A) Eligibility to APPEAR in JEE Main 2027

Year of Passing Rule — Eligible:

• Passed Class 12 in 2025

• Passed Class 12 in 2024 or earlier

Age Limit: no upper age limit for JEE Main registration.

B) Eligibility for NITs / IIITs / GFTIs (JoSAA Rule)

After JEE Main qualification, admission eligibility requires:

For General / OBC-NCL / EWS:

• 75% aggregate marks in Class 12, OR
• Top 20 percentile of the respective board

For SC / ST:

• 65% aggregate marks

Failure to produce documents leads to seat cancellation.

C) Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2027 (IIT + IISc)

JEE Main Qualification Rule: only the top 2.5 lakh JEE Main candidates can register.

Attempt Limit (critical): maximum TWO attempts in TWO consecutive years. This is a permanent IIT eligibility limiter.

Class 12 Appearance Rule: first appearance must be in 2026 or 2027.

Age Criteria: as per the standard rule, General candidates must be born on or after 1 October 2002, with a 5-year relaxation for SC / ST / PwD. Exact cut-off dates will be confirmed in the JEE Advanced 2027 brochure.

A candidate who has already accepted an IIT seat earlier is NOT eligible again.

Marking Scheme

• Correct answer: +4 marks
• Incorrect MCQ: −1 mark
• Unattempted question: 0 marks
• Numerical value questions also carry +4 and are not optional
