Army Institute of Technology (AIT), located at Dighi Camp, Pune, was established in 1994 exclusively for the children of serving and retired Indian Armed Forces personnel (Army, Navy and Air Force). The institute functions under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES).
AIT became an Autonomous Institute from Academic Year 2025โ26 and is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. It is recognised by AICTE and accredited with โAโ Grade by NAAC.
All undergraduate programmes are accredited by NBA. AIT is ranked in the band of 201โ300 among engineering colleges in India through NIRF.
During Academic Year 2024โ25, AIT was ranked 49 by India Today, 38 by The Week, and 24 by Dataquest among private and government engineering colleges.

Admission to AIT is based on the All India Rank obtained in JEE (Main) 2026. The AIT application form must include the JEE (Main) 2026 Application Number. Absence of this may result in rejection of the application.

Gallantry Award Weightage
Additional weightage (1%โ5%) is granted on JEE percentile for candidates whose parents have received specified gallantry awards or fall under categories such as War Widows, Battle Casualties or Physical Casualties.
Only the higher applicable weightage will be applied (not cumulative). Duly attested proof documents are mandatory. No representation will be entertained later.
๐ Eligibility Criteria
- Age as per JEE Main 2026 norms (Proof via Class X certificate).
- Must be Indian citizen or person of Indian origin intending Indian citizenship before admission.
- Open exclusively to children of serving/retired defence personnel (minimum 10 years service).
- Adopted/step children eligible (subject to conditions).
- Children of personnel serving only in DSC, Assam Rifles, BSF, GREF or Defence Civilians are not eligible.
- Minimum 10+2 with Physics & Mathematics compulsory + one approved subject.
- Minimum 45% aggregate in required subject combination.
- Compartment cases not eligible.
- Gap affidavit required if applicable.
Final eligibility subject to AIT Management and Savitribai Phule Pune University approval.
