Admission process (2025–26 MBBS session)

Eligibility Requirements for Indian Applicants
Bangladesh Medical College (BMC), Dhanmondi, is bound to strictly follow the official admission rules framed by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) for the 2025–26 MBBS session. These rules apply uniformly to all foreign nationals, including Indian aspirants entering through the Foreign Student Quota. Since DGME governs the entire admission process centrally, no aspirant can take admission directly through the college. Only candidates who fully satisfy all DGME-defined eligibility norms are considered for evaluation and seat allocation under Bangladesh’s regulated framework.
Academic GPA Criteria (DGME Calculation Rules)
DGME uses a 5-point GPA system to evaluate the academic performance of foreign MBBS aspirants. For eligibility, applicants must achieve a minimum combined GPA of 7.0 across Class 10 and Class 12, with at least GPA 3.5 in Biology at the Class 12 level. No individual exam GPA should be under 3.5. DGME computes GPA for Class 10 based on the best five subjects, but GPA for Class 12 is calculated strictly from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This standardized method ensures equal treatment for applicants from different nations and boards. Students from CBSE, ISC, and State Boards are assessed using equivalent GPA conversion tables employed by DGME during the document verification phase.

Year of Passing Conditions
As per the 2025–26 foreign student circular, Class 10 must not be completed before 2022, while Class 12 must be completed in 2024 or 2025. The maximum gap permissible between the two examinations is three years. This requirement makes sure that students seeking admission into MBBS are academically current and have not been disconnected from formal education for extended periods. Applications of candidates failing to meet these year-ofpassing rules are automatically rejected by the DGME system, notwithstanding of their GPA.
DGME Online Application System
The entire admission process is conducted online through the official portal foreignstudents.dgme.gov.bd. Applications began on 11 November 2025 and will continue until 15 January 2026. Students do not need to visit any Bangladeshi mission or submit hard copies; every step is completed digitally. The portal verifies GPA inputs, validates document uploads, and generates a Confirmation Copy after successful submission. Only applications with genuine documents and proper GPA entries reach the evaluation stage.

Document Upload & Attestation Rules
Applicants must upload scanned copies of their Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates, passport, recent photograph, and the TT/SWIFT payment receipt. All academic documents must be attested by the Ministry of Education (India) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). DGME rejects any document lacking proper attestation.
TT/SWIFT Equivalence Fee Payment
An obligatory US $100 equivalence fee must be paid via TT/SWIFT transfer to DGME’s designated bank account. The payment receipt has to be uploaded during application. Sans this receipt, the application remains invalid and is not processed for merit listing.
Merit List & College Allocation
DGME prepares the merit list after duly verifying all documents and GPA calculations. Seats are allotted strictly on merit and foreign quota availability. Once a student is allocated to Bangladesh Medical College, DGME issues an official Admission Approval Letter which is necessary for final enrolment.

Final Admission Procedure at Bangladesh Medical College
After allocation, students must visit BMC in person to complete final admission formalities, including passport authentication, original document verification, medical fitness evaluation, and payment of the initial admission fee. BMC processes admission only on the basis of DGMEissued allocation letters; no direct admission is allowed.
NEET Requirement for Indian Students
