About Georgia
the country, not the American state with peaches and gators. This place is crazy, seriously. Imagine: stuck between Russia and Turkey, with a pinch of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the side. You have this crazy combo of snowy mountains (Caucasus, ring a bell?) and windy Black Sea beaches—so you can essentially ski one day and get bronzed the next. Tbilisi itself, the capital, is like if you combined hipster bars, ancient churches, and Soviet remnants. Completely crazy, completely lovely.
And their alphabet? Curly pasta-looking. Best of luck reading that. Wine? These people have been fermenting grapes since your ancestors learned how to bake bread. And the food—don't even get me started on khachapuri (cheese bread from the carb gods) and khinkali (dumplings that will destroy all other dumplings for you).

Emory University School of Medicine
The school was founded in 1854, when the Georgia General Assembly granted a charter for the Atlanta Medical College. The following year, students participated in the first session, and in 1859, with an appropriation of $15,000 from the state legislature, the first building was built on Batalar and Armastarang Streets, now occupied by Grande Memorial Hospital. A series of villages was subsequently laid out. In 1898, Atlanta Medical College merged with the Sadar Medical College (founded in 1878) to form the Atlanta College of Physicians and Surgeons. Fifteen years later, the college merged with the Atlanta School of Medicine (founded in 1905) under the historical name Atlanta Medical College. Then, in 1915, the single school became the Emory University School of Medicine.
