Jharkhand NEET UG Counselling 2026

The Jharkhand NEET UG Counselling 2026 is conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB), as per Advertisement No. JCECEB/46/26-48 dated 6th August 2026, for admission into MBBS, BDS and BHMS programmes in medical, dental and homeopathy colleges across the state. Admission is based on NEET UG 2026 scores, so students who want to get into top colleges need to score well in NEET.

The State Counselling Authority (JCECEB) will conduct admission to 85% of seats allotted to the State Quota, and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will take care of 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Jharkhand has 10 medical colleges and 4 dental colleges that together account for approximately 1055 MBBS seats and 307 BDS seats for state counselling.

To get admission through state counselling, candidates must apply/register online, choose their colleges, and for both State and AIQ, the student will be called across up to 4 rounds (1st, 2nd, 3rd/Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy round). Seat allotment will be based on NEET UG rank, number of seats available in the medical, dental and homeopathy colleges, and their reservation category (General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS).

After every round during admission, the candidate needs to verify documents, and report to the college allotted within the time limit issued by the authority.

🆕 Round 2 Schedule Announced (and Revised) – JCECEB Press Communiqué dated 31.08.2026

Latest Notification Update

Important: JCECEB Press Communiqué dated 31st August 2026 (Round 2 Schedule Announced & Revised)

In compliance with the direction issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), New Delhi on 27.08.2026 regarding the NEET-UG Schedule 2026 for Round 2 of State Counselling, JCECEB has released the schedule for the 2nd Round of Online Counselling for State, All India & NRI Quota vacant seats in MBBS, BDS and BHMS courses (Advt. No. JCECEB/46/26-76). This modifies the earlier advertisements No. JCECEB/46/26-47 (dated 06.08.2026), JCECEB/46/26-52 (dated 08.08.2026), JCECEB/46/26-53 (dated 08.08.2026), and JCECEB/46/26-60 (dated 19.08.2026) – all other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

Important: Candidates who already applied for inclusion in the State Merit List for the 1st Round of Online Counselling need not fill the online application form again for the 2nd round.

Upgrade/Change Rule: Round 1-admitted candidates who wish to change their course and institute against the remaining vacant seats may participate in Round 2. If a seat is re-allotted to the candidate in Round 2, it is mandatory to take admission to the newly allotted course/institute, and the earlier admission automatically stands cancelled; the vacated seat is then allotted to another candidate on merit-cum-choice basis. Admitted candidates seeking upgradation of course and institute may also be upgraded to a different category/quota depending on actual vacancy available at their merit.

State Quota → AIQ Switch Rule: If a candidate recommended for a State Quota seat wishes to join an All India Quota (AIQ) allotted seat instead, the candidate must surrender the State Quota seat and submit a resignation to the State Quota admitting institute; the candidate’s security money will be forfeited.

PwBD/Disability Certificate Update (Round 1): The Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand (vide Letter No. 09/Namankan-02-01/2023-507(9), dated 20.08.2026) has authorised Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi to issue disability certificates for admission to MBBS, BDS, and BHMS courses for the 2026–27 session.

“Please have your marksheets, NEET scorecard, and local residence certificate before hand. Do not leave it for the final day to upload documents, when you prepare early then there is less stress and that means less worrying time. Also – the schedule was updated more than once during Round 1, and Round 2 has already seen one revision too, so always double-check the current deadline on the official website before you sit down to fill choices, and if you registered/paid earlier, be sure you've completed any re-registration steps required on the choice filling portal.”

🧠 Expert Advice – Ashok Sir, Bodmas Education

"There are decent government options in Jharkhand for State Quota aspirants, but with limited seats in private colleges, there will be good competition. So, plan your choices accordingly and keep in mind that there are mop-up and stray vacancy rounds too, but always keep your documents ready. For AIQ aspirants, there are many more options as Deemed and Central Universities offer, so make your selections accordingly. And with the schedule revised multiple times already – twice in Round 1 and once so far in Round 2 – keep checking the official website daily so a missed update doesn’t cost you your seat."
