NEET PG 2024 Qualifying Percentile Reduced to 5th Percentile for All Categories

In a significant development for PG medical aspirants, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has announced a further reduction in the NEET PG 2024 qualifying percentile. For the academic year 2024-25, the minimum qualifying percentile has been lowered to the 5th percentile across all categories, including General/EWS, UR-PwBD, SC/ST/OBC, and PwBD candidates from reserved categories.

This decision was communicated through an official notification on the NBE website, following directives from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The revised criteria aim to broaden the pool of eligible candidates for PG medical admissions, ensuring more aspirants have the opportunity to participate in the counseling process.

The Neet PG 2024

Examination was conducted on August 11, 2024, in two shifts, facilitating admissions to MD, MS, DNB, DrNB (Direct 6-year), and NBEMS Diploma courses for the 2024-25 session. Results were declared on August 23, 2024. Despite the lowered qualifying percentile, the NBE has confirmed that there is no change to the NEET PG 2024 ranks or percentile scores published with the results.

Candidates should note that their eligibility remains provisional until all criteria outlined in the NEET PG 2024 Information Bulletin are met. This includes fulfilling academic qualifications and other requisite conditions.

Earlier This Year

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) had also reduced the cut-off for NEET PG 2024, making General/EWS candidates with 15 percentile and above, and SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates with 10 percentile and above, eligible for counseling. The latest revision to the 5th percentile further eases access for aspirants aiming for PG medical seats.

With these changes, candidates are encouraged to review their eligibility and prepare for the upcoming counseling sessions to secure admission into their desired postgraduate medical programs.
