The Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026 process is the admission process for state undergraduate MBBS and BDS courses in government and private colleges of Punjab. The counselling process will be based on NEET UG 2026 scores and will be administered by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot. All counselling processes including registration, choice filling, and seat allotment will be conducted online on BFUHS's official portal. Admissions for Session 2026 onwards are governed by Notification No. MER-HTH305C/9/2024-5HB3/I/1443408/2026 dated 10-07-2026, issued by the Department of Medical Education & Research, Government of Punjab, which supersedes all earlier admission notifications on this subject.
Punjab's NEET counselling will have three types of quotas 85% State Quota, Management Quota and NRI Quota. Eligibility Criteria for MBBS/BDS Admission in Punjab |
NEET UG 2026 Exam Passing:
To participate in the Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026, the Candidate must have appeared for and passed (scored mark above the qualifying cutoff) the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Only candidates that are NEET qualified will be considered for MBBS/BDS seat allotment in Punjab.
Punjab Domicile Certificate / State Quota Eligibility:
Candidates applying under the state quota must possess a valid Punjab domicile/residence certificate issued by the competent government authority, which is a mandatory condition for the students who wish to pursue admission through Punjab MBBS counselling of 2026. A candidate qualifies for the State Quota if he/she is a Citizen of India and has passed 10+1 & 10+2 from Punjab, or was born in Punjab, or is a "permanent resident" of Punjab – meaning having studied 5 years in Punjab (or 2 years just preceding the qualifying exam), or being a child/ward of a Punjab Govt./Govt. of India (posted in Punjab or Chandigarh)/eligible autonomous body employee with at least 3 years' service, or a child/ward of a Punjab Govt. pensioner irrespective of current place of residence, or a child/ward of a person settled or residing in Punjab for at least 5 years in pursuit of a profession or job. Wards of defence personnel posted in Punjab, NRI category candidates, minority community candidates competing for minority quota, and children/wards/dependents of certain Central Government employees posted in Punjab are also separately eligible.
Online Registration:
All candidates who are eligible must complete the online registration form on the official portal of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot when scheduled. The registration process is the first thing to do in order to participate in Punjab NEET counselling.
Age Criteria:
Applicants must be 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2026 to be eligible for suitable admission in MBBS/BDS courses under Punjab NEET UG counselling 2026.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 (equivalent to Class 12) examination along with the following subjects from a recognized board
o Physics
o Chemistry
o Biology/Biotechnology
o English
Candidates must have passed each subject individually.
A minimum qualifying percentage of marks:
o For the General category candidates, they must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology taken together.
o For the SC/ST/OBC Category candidates, they need to obtain a minimum of 45% marks in PCB subjects.
The qualifying marks are a requirement for eligibility in Punjab MBBS counselling 2026.
Other Eligibility Conditions:
Candidates must satisfy any other conditions imposed by BFUHS and DGHS/MCC depending on respective quotas/categories and eligibility as per document verification during Punjab NEET UG counselling. Candidates and their Parent/Guardian must also submit a sworn affidavit/declaration confirming that State Quota eligibility has been claimed only in Punjab and not availed in any other State/UT for the same academic session; a false declaration will make the candidature/admission liable to cancellation.
Reservation Policy in Punjab NEET UG 2026 |
The Punjab NEET UG counselling will allow for admission into MBBS and BDS programs, at government and private institutions, under the state quota, with the following reservation policy established by the Government of Punjab. Approval for reservation will only apply to the candidates with a valid Punjab domicile certificate. The table below is the category-wise seat reservation details:

• For admission under the Sports Category, it will be on (inter-se) merit and (A/B/C) gradations, as established in the Sports Policy, notified by the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Punjab, and as per the Punjab State Policy on Reservation for Sportspersons Notification No. 03/18/2018-3SS/25 dated 09-03-2026, with weightage to sports achievements (Junior & Senior levels) and qualifying exam marks.
• The reservations are only applicable to government institutes under the Punjab state quota.
• All reservations are subject to valid supporting documents for verification at the time of counselling.

Christian Medical College (CMC) & Christian Dental College (CDC), Ludhiana: As minority institutions, CMC/CDC Ludhiana charge Rs. 6.60 lakh per annum for MBBS and Rs. 2.20 lakh per annum for BDS, from both Open Quota and Minority Quota students, with a 10% increase in fees every year.
Hostel Fee & Security Advance (Private Institutes): Non-AC Independent Room Rs. 16,500/- per year (maximum, 1st year, up to 5% hike/year); Special Room with attached bathroom and AC Rs. 26,400/- per year (maximum, up to 10% hike/year); Security Advance Rs. 27,500/- or equivalent (refundable, via demand draft); Mess charges actual and student-managed. Charges are billed six-monthly and exclude electricity/water.
All fees are subject to change as per Notification of the Government. Tuition fee for the six months is paid to the Registrar, BFUHS, Faridkot; institutes cannot insist on advance payment of the full course fee.
A Service Bond of Rs. 20,00,000/- applies to candidates admitted to the MBBS course in Government Medical Colleges/Institutions of Punjab, whether under the State Quota or the All India Quota. The mandatory service obligation is 2 years for candidates admitted under the State Quota, and 1 year for candidates admitted under the All India Quota, to be rendered at Government Medical Colleges, Hospitals or other health institutions in Punjab as specified by the Government. A candidate who fails to join, complete, or otherwise comply with the terms of the Service Bond is liable to pay the full bond amount of Rs. 20,00,000/-, besides any other consequences, recoveries or penalties permissible under the bond, prospectus or applicable law.
